Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program

Zero Tuition. $40,000 Annual Stipend.

The Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency at Austin Institute of Dental Medicine offers an intensive one-year program designed to elevate general dentists to an advanced level of knowledge, skill, and clinical competence. Program Overview

The AEGD program serves as a bridge between dental school and private practice or specialty education, providing graduates with additional training that significantly enhances their clinical abilities. • Cone beam CT imaging and treatment planning
  • Digital smile design and treatment planning
  • Laser dentistry applications

  • Thorough treatment planning methodology
  • Coordinated interdisciplinary approach
  • Management of dental anxiety
  • Consideration of medical comorbidities
  • Effective patient communication
    Ethical decision-making
  • Long-term maintenance strategies

Faculty & Mentorship

Each resident is assigned a primary faculty mentor who provides guidance throughout the program, including regular case reviews and clinical supervision. This mentorship model ensures personalized feedback and support for each resident’s professional development.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must possess a DDS or DMD degree earned from a dental school that is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Applicants should be qualified for U.S. dental licensure and meet all institutional requirements for postgraduate residency training.

Accreditation

The Advanced Education Programs in Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), and Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics sponsored by Paris Regional Health at the Austin Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) are developing programs that have applied for accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association.

* A comprehensive CODA site-visit evaluation was completed in September 2025 with no recommendations cited. CODA will consider granting each program “Initial Accreditation” at its 2026 meeting (Feb 2026). No residents will be enrolled until Initial Accreditation is granted, in accordance with CODA policy for developing programs. Pending that decision, the inaugural cohort is anticipated to matriculate in July 2026.
